Hand Made Bicycle

Spring Wheels- 2011

This spring has seen way more wheels than usual. Here are just a few of my favorite examples from the past few months. The first set are factory 20's from a Porsche Cayenne, next we have factory 18's from a Land Rover. Both sets are Two-Toned with the same Sparkle Silver and Gloss Black with a Full Gloss Clear Coat to finish them off.
Next is a set of formerly chrome 18's that find daily use on a VW in Moondust Lime and Gloss Black. Finally a set 0f CBR 600 factory wheels done in Candy Metallic Red.

Volkswagen Turbo Diesel Manifold

The final results of a full custom VW intake manifold by RACE Metalsmiths in conjunction with Jason Orzell of Orzell Engineering. The stock intake was cut and modified to better equalize cylinder pressure and improve overall airflow. Initial testing indicates a drop in exhaust gas temperatures, which allowed for more fueling and a marked improvement in acceleration.

This manifold was made specifically for Jason's 1982 Rabbit hill climb car, other versions are in the works to include a TDI version later this winter.

Viper ACR

These wheels, completed earlier this summer have got to be my favorite project to date. When I was contacted to powder coat wheels for a Dodge Viper I found it hard to contain my excitement as this is my favorite car of all time. Later when I found out the wheels were for a 2009 Viper ACR I found it impossible to contain my excitement. This was not going to be any plain gloss black coating job. These wheels were to be two-color, custom masked red and black with pointed accents on every spoke. Each wheel was done one at a time, in and out of the oven 5 times each. The total project took the better part of two weeks straight, from design and cutting of custom masks, to coating and polishing. What you see here represents no less than 150 x-acto blades and much patience.

WE HAVE MOVED!

RACE Metalsmiths has moved, we are now located in Wilder, Vermont. This location is just a few miles from our old shop. We are now conveniently located right off of Route 5 in Wilder at the "A" Street Commerce Park.

This move has a lot of improvements in store for our customers. First and foremost this is a much more suitable location for a business such as ours. We now occupy 3700 square feet including a nice drive in service bay.

Our Powder Coating area is now much larger with a little more room to spread out. A new powder application booth, and a whole lot of extra room for a planned expansion in the near future.

The Machine shop area has also grown, we have added new machinery that we were previously unable to utilize. What this means for you is more variety in our machining capabilities, the possibility to accept larger items, and some new services to be added shortly.

Scott has been spending a lot of hours working on Cliff's '88 Sportster. Recently completed is this fuel tank which is one of the final pieces of the puzzle for this bike.
